Welcome to our electronic procedures manual for Children's Social Care - now referred to as "SCIP".
The manual is in electronic form only and is permanently available on our Intranet site to facilitate ready access by all staff and permit regular updating. The electronic format allows you to skip readily between linked sections via the installed hyperlinks.
In addition, you will be able to access any forms which are relevant to a specific procedure by clicking on the Forms button at the top of the chapter - this will take you to our Forms library.
The manual will be regularly updated and the Quick Guide (accessible via the button on the left hand side of the screen) draws your attention to where changes have been made. The Contents List will also show where chapters have been added or updated.
Please do not make copies of the manual or parts thereof as these are likely to become out of date. If you require a hard copy of a specific chapter - for example to take to a court hearing or a meeting - please shred it straight away afterwards.
If you do come across any errors or omissions, please e-mail Mark Wheeler who will be collating the information for updates.
Finally, I would ask you to familiarise yourself with the Policy framework, Values and Principles of Recording, Confidentiality and Consultation, which summarises the key policies, values and principles of Children's Social Care and which must be adopted when implementing any and all the procedures contained in this manual.
